10 Ways to Promote Your Website

How do you get visitors to your website? What do you do to get increased traffic? Here’s a list of 10 items you need to consider. You may be doing many of these already.  Others you meant to do and forgot about.  Still others you’ve never heard of.

While I’m not breaking any new ground here, I’ve tried to summarize some of the most important techniques.

Search Engine Strategies

Perhaps the most important, and inexpensive strategy to rank high for your preferred keywords on the main search engines is “natural” or also known as “organic” searches (as opposed to paid ads). Search engines send “spiders” to index the content of your web site.  Let’s begin with steps to prepare your webpages for optimal indexing. The idea here is not to trick the search engines, but to leave them abundant clues as to what your webpage is about. This approach is called “search engine optimization” or SEO.

1. Write a Keyword-Rich Page Title. Write a descriptive title for each page. make it rich in keywords that you want people to find your site with. Remove as many “filler” words from the title such as “the,” “and,” etc. as possible, while still making it readable. This page title will appear hyperlinked on the search engines when your page is found. Entice searchers to click on the title by making it a bit provocative. Place this at the top of the webpage between the <HEAD></HEAD> tags, in this format: <TITLE>10 Ways to Promote Your Website</TITLE>. (It also shows on the blue bar at the top of your web browser.)  Also keep in mind that not all of your readers have English as a fist language.

Plan to use some descriptive keywords along with your business name on your home page. If you specialize in Plastic Widgets and that’s what people will be searching for, don’t just use your company name “ACME, Inc.,” use “Plastic Widgets - ACME, Inc.” The words people are most likely to search on should appear first in the title (called “keyword prominence”). Remember, this title is your identity on the search engines. The more that people see which interests them in the blue hyperlinked words on the search engine, the more likely they are to click on the link.

Twitter says that its DNS records were compromised.

If the screenshots are indication, someone got past Twitter’s defenses. The apparent organization responsible is the “Iranian Cyber Army.”

Don’t Make These Three Fatal Mistakes

Today, I want to let you know about three fatal online business mistakes.

If you fall into any of these traps, you won’t be successful online.  Period.

Fatal Mistake #1: I don’t need a website

Wrong!

If you want to generate consistent profits and build a sustainable business, it’s absolutely essential to have your own website.

If you don’t have your own website yet, you’re leaving money on the table that is just waiting to be picked up.

And if you don’t grab that money quickly, someone else will.

That’s why it’s vital to get your own website set up as quickly as possible.

Fatal Mistake #2: I’m Not Technical Enough To Set Up My Own Website

Not true!

Either you know how to do something or you don’t. If you don’t have the right knowledge, it’s both easy and essential to learn.

If you can’t do the basics yourself, it will prevent you from getting started or cost you a fortune paying other people to do it for you.  Either way, it will seriously dent your online earning power.

Fatal Mistake #3: I Can Make Money With A Squidoo Lens

True.

But, if that’s your business model, good luck (you’ll need it)!

I earn about $30 a month from Squidoo and I use it to help send traffic to my hosted website and domain name

If you rely solely upon third-party sites like Squidoo or Blogger, remember that they have the ability to pull the rug from beneath you at any moment. What happens if they suddenly decide to cancel your account?

Your “business” would disappear instantly.  Honestly. It has happened to some of my lenses several times already!

The only way to be in control of your business is to have your own site on your own hosting package and your own independently registered domain name.

So to recap:

1. You need your own website.

2. You need to learn some website building basics.

3. You need to set up your own website as quickly as possible and stop relying on other sites and blog hosts for your online future.

Course of Action:

Get your own Domain name and Hosting Hostgator:

Hostgator costs only $7.95 a month and to add a Domain Name is only $15 one time for a year.

Learn how to easily setup a Blog or your online business with Hostgator at the free Hostgator support forum provided by APS

Are you ready for Google to crawl your Facebook page?

Facebook users beware! Facebook is now allowing Google to crawl the site and your privacy will be affected. Currently, everything you post on Facebook remains between you and your friends (those whom you’ve added to your friendlist).

Facebook has recently announced privacy changes and they may change the way you use Facebook, and the way your information is shared.

Once Google begins to crawl Facebook, all of your information, photos, posts, comments, and any shared information may be accessible through Google’s search engine if you don’t change your privacy settings.
If you have a facebook accountand haven’t been on it  recently, you may want to log in and read about the new privacy settings. As soon as you log in, you will see a popup advising you on the new privacy rules. You can choose for everyone to see your information, or select old settings.

You can also access your privacy settings by going to ‘Settings’ on your Facebook home page and by choosing ‘Privacy Settings’. There you’ll find the following options: Name, Username, Email, Password, Linked Accounts, Security Question, Privacy, and Deactivate Account. Choose manage under privacy to begin adjusting your settings.
When you access your Privacy Settings you’ll see: Profile Information, Contact Information, Applications and Websites, Search, and Block List. Choose Search to control how search engines will interact with your Facebook page. Under search you’ll see the option “Allow Indexing”.

If you would like to keep your Facebook page private, uncheck this box.

If you don’t mind your information being indexed in Google, then you may leave the check in the Search box.

What do you think about the change?

Leader vs Follower

Follower mindset:

Blames Others
Gets Caught up in things
Poverty Mentality
Thinker - Thinks about the possibilities, but very rarely takes action.
Needs to be told “What” -  needs to be told whats needs to be done to get there, also isn’t learning anything new, but mostly relies on others .
Afraid of Mistakes - If you havent made any mistakes how do know when you succeed?

Leader mindset:

Takes Responsibility
Leaders Removes Distractions
Abundance Mentality
Doer - not only does he think, but he also takes action.
Needs to know “why” - Asks why it needs to be done in this way not other ways. Learns something new everyday.
Learns from Mistakes - Accepts his mistakes and evaluates where the problem is and makes new choices.

Do you have any “vs” for this list?

Acme People Search adding recurring commissions

I have just learned that the Acme People Search Affiliate Program is going to be adding recurring commissions starting on December 14th.

Here is the announcement from Tissa Godavitarne:

Not only is tomorrow (Dec. 14) payday for APS affiliates, but tomorrow marks the beginning of recurring monthly commissions for APS affiliates!  (Just when you thought it couldn’t get any better big_smile)

When it comes to referral fees (which are just one of the eight income streams built into APS) there are now three ways to earn those referral fees:

1) Standard Commissions ($1, $2 and $3 for Step 1, 2 and 3 completions, respectively)
2) Performance Bonuses (up to $30 per referral if your Step 3 conversion rates reach 15%)
3) Recurring Commissions (additional commissions for each month your referrals are subscribed to Step 3!)

It gets better: Your existing Step 3 referrals will be included in your recurring commissions paid tomorrow (Dec. 14!)  So for example: If you have a referral who has maintained Step 3 for the past six months, your payment tomorrow will include six months of recurring commissions for that referral!

In preparation for tomorrow’s roll-out, this weekend has been spent doing final testing for different scenarios.  So you may notice changes in the way your referral stats (including commissions) are displayed (or calculated).  If you see something wonky - don’t worry!  Either the gremlins are testing different scenarios, or I will explain the changes during tomorrow’s Webinar smile

Corny as it sounds, this is an exciting moment for me in the evolution of ACME People Search, because it represents an immensely valuable way that all of YOU can make even more money with APS - all based on your feedback and suggestions!  I’m just paying it forward.

Tissa Godavitarne

Of Since starting with APS, I have earned over $3500, just in affiliate payments.

There are also 7 other income streams tied in to the system.
Not downline builder cyclers and banner exchanges, but 7 real affiliate programs.

Another source of income from APS, is as a Super Sponsor.

Did you know that if you earn the “Super Sponsor” title, APS will actually pay you up-to $133 a month?
That’s right, Tissa pays me $133 a month, just to help other affiliates in his system.

You are free to attend the Webinars, view and even post in the forum before signing up to be an Acme People Search Affiliate.

Once you decide to join APS, (and why wouldn’t you?), you can join for free HERE.

Organic Acres Launch is Today

“OrganicAcres is Launching Today - Dec 9th - Get in for free and get on the launch call at 7:PM EST”

The launch of Organic Acres for your garden, General Store or Basic membership is Today.

The garden membership is a gift that keeps giving for the whole year for you and your family so think out of the box to consider how you can afford it for you and your family.

Depending on how many follow through and upgrade to a garden, there may still be Pioneer Gardens available in January if you can’t pay until then but there will be much more advertising for the rotator so there will be a lot of new members coming in following the launch.

Even as a free member you can earn from direct referrals purchasing a membership or garden and hold your position. You just do not earn from the 2nd to 5th level until you at least purchase a Basic membership.

If you have any questions, check the Knowledge Database in Support, attend the Live Presentation listed in the Event Calendar or contact me.

If you have not yet checked out Organic Acres, you can join for free and check out the whole marketing system and products.
