Facebook is the number one destination on the web
The average U.S. Internet user spends more time on Facebook than on Google, Yahoo, YouTube, Microsoft, Wikipedia, and Amazon combined. Think about that for a moment.
The latest numbers released by Nielsen today confirm that Facebook is the number one destination on the web based on time.
Is this a good or bad thing?
This is good info to have if you market online. Facebook is a great target for marketing worldwide.
What are your thoughts on those numbers?

I can’t stand facebook… I think people needs to start getting out more and meeting people and socializing in public than on twitter and facebook/myspace…

My thoughts seeing those figures is, how much time we waste on Entertainment, I mean have a look at wikipedia..only 15:59 minutes? Ok I admit that on some articles Wikipedia is not the most accurate, infact really bad but wikipedia is considered a good source of information so that indicates seriousness towards collecting more information, getting into the habit of learning more from Internet. It’s amazing to see we’ve got so much information available on the Internet today…yet we’re not making the best use of it.
I am not a serious fan of Facebook and I don’t like with the stuff people share, I mean it’s dangerous because many young people don’t know about their limits. For businesses, yes it’s a great opportunity but really our young generation should be taught where to limit themselves and how to guard their privacy.

I’ve yet to have success with marketing on Facebook. In a weird sort of way, it seems to diminish your community down to people you already know - as there is a sort of “unwritten” social code in many social groups, not to add people as a friend unless they are a real life friend. I’m sure that facebook could open up new networks, but I think that its role leans more towards strengthening existing ones.

I recently looked at the statistics for the amount of time people spend online watching video. Pretty impressive. With Facebook, I recommend staring a fan page for your business, then including a link to your fan page in your website and in your email signature and email distribution list. Eventually people will see it on their friends profile and ad themselves too.
